What game system is this? Grand Elysium uses One World By Night (OWBN) rules: a Mind's Eye Theatre variant of Vampire the Masquerade live-action roleplay (LARP).

What is OWBN? One World by Night is an international network of local game chronicles that play World of Darkness games and follow a continuous ruleset and "world". To learn more, visit their website.

Do I have to know the rules/how much will I have to learn? No, and extremely little. We'll help you at check-in, but OWBN rules are designed to be very easy to jump in and play. We will have cheat sheets available as well at sign-in.

What rulebook are you using? While it isn't necessary to purchase the rulebook, you may purchase a copy at Drive-Thru RPG.

How do I select a character? Show up at sign-in and choose a pre-made character sheets at sign-in to choose from.

How do I bring my existing OWBN character? Send us your character sheet on Haller by opening your sheet > Player Tools > Send Sheet To Another Game > Columbus in Darkness!

What if I have a character, but don't have Haller? No problem! Email [email protected] (for the Camarilla time slot) or [email protected] (for the Sabbat time slot).

May I build a new character beforehand? Sure! Work with Storytellers beforehand by emailing [email protected] before June 1st.

Which sects are welcome, and what time do they play? Camarilla, Anarch, and Independent are welcome!

What if my character is Sabbat? Sabbat are invited to the Grand Esbat from 12pm-5pm at the same location! Website coming soon.

Can my children play? This event is 18+ and no children are allowed to play, nor allowed within the game area.

What is the costuming expectation? Grand Elysium is generally a "formal" event (gowns and ties) however there will surely be vampires who do not abide by the "status quo" and thus you will not be too out of place if you decide to arrive casual. There are 3 optional costuming themes for the weekend as well on the homepage, if you'd like to participate.

What types of themes can I expect? This event is 18+ and thus you should expect themes of personal horror, morality, allusions to violence/gore (we are playing vampires after all), and assault. Additionally, by being present and signing in, you consent to being witness to a PG-13 environment (coarse language, sexual content [limited to kissing/making out], and suggestive dialogue).

How physical is this LARP? This game is NOT PHYSICAL at all. There is no boffer fighting, no physically acting out attacks, etc. Physical feats are handled through simple tests of 'rock paper scissors' (called "chops"). Further, you and your character will NEVER be expected to participate in any social touch without your full consent, and consent should always be asked for in even the most basic of physical touch (i.e. a shoulder touch when meeting someone).
